It's hard to visualize the life you want when you don't think it's within reach. Often times, we think of the future as an abstract concept instead of a direction we move towards with our actions. Choices you make today will affect your life weeks, months, even years from now, so behave as if you are already living the life you want. Here is what life looks like when you do takes risks - and what life looks like when you don't.

LIFE WHEN YOU TAKE RISKS:
1. Starting a new hobby: That little hobby you choose to pick up can change your life. Even if you're just doing it for fun, with enough practice it could become something you are professional at. Hobbies are also a great way to connect with people in that community. Once you start something you are passionate about, it is hard to put it down.
2. Starting a business: You'll never know what works until you try and fail. There is so much overcalculation and underestimation that goes into starting a new business, but the risks are a part of the journey. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and learn from them. It could fail, but it could also succeed.
3. Networking: If this seems scary, start small. Talk to one new person - this can turn into a whole bubble of new people. One interaction can create new routes for you. Respond to that email. Answer that DM. Send the first message. When you reach outside of your sphere, your world will get exponentially bigger.
4. Moving Cities: Starting a new chapter may feel daunting but you have more to gain than you have to lose. A new city could mean more than just new social connections but a significant lifestyle change.
5. Changing Careers: The great thing about careers is no matter how long you've been with one, you can always explore other possibilities. That new career path can reveal opportunities that you did not think were previously available to you.
6. Meeting New people: We all need connection. That conversation you have with a stranger could lead to a lifelong friendship, or at the very least improve your day. You have no idea how important your interaction may be to another stranger.
7. Realizing your dreams: You may already be working towards them. Having doubts is normal but it is important to not give up on the journey. Anything is attainable if you put the effort in. When you finally get there, you will be happy you didn't give up.
8. Joining a class: It's a productive use of your time if you're looking to learn a new skill. The things you learn from a new course can be immensely valuable to your personal development and even lead to a larger interest in other things.
LIFE WHEN YOU DON'T TAKE RISKS:
1. Doing the same old thing: Routine is comfortable, but it can be monotonous. Staying inside your comfort zone can erase new experiences and lead to frustration.
2. Never profiting from ideas: You may have so many viable business ideas but not feel confident in them, feeling as if there is no niche for that particular idea or an audience for it. There are many factors that could lead to failure, but you won't know if you never start.
3. Staying in a small circle: When you let opportunities to form connections pass you by, your world gets smaller. You stay in the same space and feel as though no one can help you out of it. This can lead to feelings of comparison and jealousy, and internal resentment for not reaching out and creating those crucial relationships.
4. Feeling trapped: The worst thing you can do is not take the leap. Every new place you travel to leaves an impact on you. Moving is a huge step, but it is one that creates a formative experience. Without it, you may never expand your horizons.
5. Resenting your job: Many people feel like they missed their chance to pivot to a new career. If you're feeling stuck, staying in the same space is not the move. If you feel like you may leave something good behind if you move to another spot, think about what you're letting pass you by if you stay still.
6. Missing out on relationships: This becomes one of your biggest regrets as you get older. We need relationships and friendships. They make us better people and improve our mental health. Without them, we cannot grow as human beings.
7. Always having 'what ifs': The regrets will be larger than the fear you have of not pursuing your dreams. The life you didn't live becomes a constant reminder hanging over the life you have now.
8. Staying at the same level: A lack of curiosity makes us dull. If you stopped wanting to learn new things, you would never grow. We can always become better version of ourselves but only if there is a desire to.

You may not be able to control everything that happens in your life, but you can decide on an outcome. Whether you gain something or lose something, you stand to lose a lot more when you don't take risks.
