THINGS YOUR FUTURE SELF WANTS YOU TO REMEMBER

September 17 2026 – Delikate Rayne

Ever visualize what future you is doing right at this moment? If you are already visualizing what future you would say and how they would act then you are heading in the right direction. The future is not a vague direction your life takes - it is a certainty. You will change and you will experience things that will help you grow. Here are things your future self wants you to remember:

1. It's a marathon, not a race

Doing things quicker will not get you closer to your dreams. In the long term, manifesting your dreams requires endurance. You have to be able to pace yourself and have a realistic outlook for your goals and ambitions. While it is tempting to cave to speed in a world where we are struck from every angle with comparisons and stats, it is important not to rush the process it. Instead, enjoy it. Learn something from it.

2. The harder the grind the bigger the payoff

All those hard days and late nights aren't for nothing. The work you put in right now is not in vain even if it looks like failure from your immediate perspective. You can't see the ways in which your grind changed your life positively, but you will one day see those results. It is just a matter of not giving up. There is no such thing as wasted time or wasted output. There is only self-improvement.

3. You didn't "fall behind" on anything

You can not be late to your own life. When people say they feel like they fell behind they are voicing a fear that they don't have control over their own life. You can always take back control at any time. Falling behind is an idea that you have to accomplish your goals by a certain timeline or at the same time every one else does and that is simply not true.

4. You'll never feel ready

Don't wait for that moment - just do it. There are probably several things you are putting off or dreading acting on in your life right now but they don't have to be scary. Make that small stop. Write that email. Pursue that goal. Follow through on that task. If you keep yourself in the mental state of "I have to be perfect before I start that" you will never do it. The things you want happen will happen because you acted on them. You made something happen instead of waiting.

5. That life ruining event actually didn't ruin your life

There is no tragedy that can get in the way of your resilience. Even if you are stuck in the midst of emotional turmoil, it is not forever. When the pain is long and intense, that may not feel particularly true but the clouds have to part sometime. You may feel like you have survived worse in the past and you will continue to do so! Give yourself credit for your inner strength.

6. Your success didn't stop at rejection

Every success story is full of rejections. Every 'no' you get didn't stop you - it led you to the door where all the 'yeses' were waiting. Don't feel diminished by rejection - let it guide you to the places that you belong. Rejection happens to everybody - but only you can decide if makes you or breaks you.

Your life already has the potential to change for the better- you just have to take an active part in your life. It is easy to forget good advice and harder to implement it. Your future self depends on you remembering all of these things. Future you after all, is not some vaguely realized self - they came into being through the actions you make in the present.
