MID-YEAR RESET: WHAT TO REEVALUATE, RELEASE, & REBUILD
August 06 2026 – Delikate Rayne
Your mid-year may not look like the way you envisioned it at the beginning of the year, but you can still reach the finish line with a little tweaking. Reflecting on your goals, habits, and mindset will give you the insight you need to make that much needed change. These steps will help you hit your target goals in a more grounded and realistic way.

Reevaluate:
1. Your Goals
Do the goals you made at the beginning of the year still serve you? Were there other goals more worth prioritizing? Sometimes, you don't have to scrap those goals entirely, you just have to make them smaller. Changing the scope makes them more achievable.
2. Daily habits
Have you developed any helpful habits? Are there any habits or routines that are getting in the way of you achieving your goals? This could be anything from sleeping late and procrastinating to taking on obligations just because and neglecting your self-care because of work. Sometimes an unhealthy daily habit is something you aren't even aware of.
3. Your definition of success
When we picture "success" that idea can be very lofty. There is nothing wrong with having huge ambitions but often times, our idea of success can be warped and built on unhealthy ideals. Does your idea of success empower you or does it only seem that way?
Release:
1. Harsh expectations
Even if you put in hard work, you can still fall short of expectations. Having a high bar for yourself is fine, just make sure it's a bar that you can meet. It is okay to let go of impossibly high standards. It is not a sign of not being good enough, but rather a gentle acknowledgement that you are human.
2. Being scared to start over
When you've invested so much time into a goal, it can feel scary to start over. Starting over is not the end of the world - it is better to have started from scratch again rather than continuing on with a plan that just isn't working. When you release that fear, you give yourself permission to begin again but from a perspective of experience.
3. Perfectionism
You can't be perfect all the time, especially if you are in the learning stage. Accept your limitations and flaws. It is the only way to move past them. Your commitment to perfectionism is actually what's stopping you from getting to the next level.
Rebuild:
1. Your action plan
Instead of scrapping your entire action plan, just start with one thing and improve on it. Was it a time management issue? Were your goals too big? Was the scheduling you created in conflict with something else? Making the smallest of adjustments can really make a big difference in the results you are seeing.
2. Your self-care
If you have a self-care routine but have been lacking in it lately, you can get back on track. Self-care isn't just all about remembering to do your routine at the beginning and end of the day. It's finding little moments, even if it's just 20 minutes to do something you enjoy and removing barriers that make you feel bad. Don't overwhelm yourself. Do a self-care practice at least once or twice a day and try to stick to it.
3. Momentum
Had more steam at the beginning of the year and just slowly lost it? Life can throw unexpected obstacles that slow you down. If you want to rebuild momentum, take it slowly. Instead of trying to ramp things up all at once, take thirty minutes to an hour out of your day to work towards your goal again. Building a sustainable pace will help you make progress without burning all your energy.
Hitting reset doesn't mean starting over completely or giving up and waiting until next year. A full reset means changing tact, so the next four months have direction. Your self check-in should help you prioritize the things that matter but most importantly - reach your goals in a clear, actionable way.
