BENEFITS OF VEGAN SILK

February 11 2023 – Delikate Rayne

Besides the traditional fabric, vegan/cruelty-free silk also known as peace silk is said to be a process that allows the silkworm to emerge from their cocoon and complete their natural life cycle without silk breeding and harvesting. Silk fabrics are known for being very sustainable and eco-friendly fibers. Its production process is also beneficial due to its low water usage and its near to zero waste percentage. Researchers have been working on ways to produce silk without harming the worm but reaping the same benefits of traditional silk fibers. That is where this unique fiber comes to play.

In the process of creating vegan silk, the cocoon is carefully cut to allow the moth to break free. It is said to be a very peaceful and non-violent way of harvesting silk and a real wonder of nature. Besides this significant impact, the usage of peace silk has uncovered several advantages including the following below:
  1. PREVENTS WRINKLES- Due to the reduction of friction between silk and skin
    2. MAINTAINS SKIN PH LEVEL- Is the same pH level as skin, though slightly acidic yet not disrupting the skin's protective acid mantle
    3. LESS ABSORBENT- Absorbs less moisture than cotton and other fabrics; maintains natural moisture and oils in your skin
    4. TEXTURE- Has a luxurious texture; great for quality sleep
    5. PREVENTS FRIZZ- Reduces frizz and split ends or bed head by making the hair smoother after sleep
    6. HYPOALLERGENIC- Due to the tight weave prevents house dust mites from entering through pillowcases and other products; contains sericin (a protein to prevent the growth of mites and molds)
    7. NO HARMFUL TOXINS- Fabric is 100% natural and organic
    8. ECO-FRIENDLY- Fabrics are biodegradable and compostable
    9. VALUE- Good value for its advantages; a scarce resource and worthy investment
