GREEN BOOST-TATION

March 18 2015 – Delikate Rayne

Nowadays there a gazillion and one ways to make a green smoothie. You just need to choose one. The one that works for you. That is the only way you are going to continue to make and drink the health wealth potion day in and day out. What works for other people may not necessarily work for you and vice-versa. There really is no right or wrong. It's all about the trial and error of the mixing of nutrients, flavors and whatever else you find to make that elixir appealing enough to digest. After making a few trips down discovery lane ourselves we have found we love green smoothies that are more tropical flavored based. We found a pretty yummy version here but decided to tweak it a bit more to fit our taste buds. Find our version below and get your drink on.

TROPICAL GREEN EXTRAVAGANZA:

1 cup orange juice, no pulp

1-2 cups spinach (adjust according to your taste, we like using organic baby spinach)

1 scoop protein powder of your choice (if you are going to use a flavor try and stick with something neutral like vanilla. We like this slightly nutty flavored but not really powder and on days you need that extra boost aka you are working out we use this vanilla dream)

2 tablespoons chia seeds and/or 1-1 t½ tablespoons hemp seeds and if you are feeling it do both

1 to 1½ cups frozen tropical fruit blend (the one we use is this and is the best blend of frozen peaches, mangoes, pineapples and bananas)

1 teaspoon spirulina

1 tablespoon agave (add more if you desire a sweeter taste)

1 tablespoon coconut oil

To prepare, throw the greens, orange juice, protein powder and chia/hemp seeds in food processor or blender. Blend, and grind on high. Then puree until the mixture is smooth. Throw in the fruit and the remaining ingredients. Blend everything together and enjoy immediately. Extra can be kept in a tight jar or container in a refrigerator for up to two days.
